When you’ve got friends, you never Dye alone!

This winter in the Mitten has been bizarre. Warmer than normal, very little snow, and just a lot of what I can “the michigan shit mix,”- gray, sleety/rainy/general crud falling from the sky, and not a lot of chance to get out and do much.

To beat the winter blues, Collective Wings got together a few weeks ago and did a winter dye bath. We used a lot of powder dyes due to the lack of stuff available for harvest right now, but we got some lovely colors and results. Megan Shay, Alex Smith, Claire AKRyan Brady and myself dyed a myriad of yarn, shirts, and of course the infamous “brazilian wood” pants that Ryan dyed for himself to be a fabulous shade of pink. I also dyed one of the first sweaters that I will be showing at Fashion Week Cleveland 2012. Alex dyed some beautiful vintage t-shirts into amazing tie-dye, I dyed a new skien of twice crochet joy, and there was lots of cotton to be made into yummy headbands, bracelets, and new products for the Loving Wings Collection.

Check out our photo results here, and look out for a post about how to style my new open work sweater, as well as a sneak peak into Loving Wings and the looks for Fashion Week Cleveland 2012!
